2019 Brut ~ Methode Traditionnelle
At Mt Lofty Estate our sparkling wine is produced from a combination of Riesling, Vermentino and Viognier grapes. All varieties are picked in the cool of the morning and by the end of each day are fermenting in stainless steel tanks. Primary fermentation takes 9 months with Riesling, comprising of at least 60% of the base wine with the final blend around 60/20/20 giving a fresh fruity blend with some complexity. Following the secondary fermentation (methode traditionnelle) in the bottle, the wine is aged on the yeast lees for a further 10 months contributing an additional range of characteristics to our finished sparkling wine.
Crafted at the foothills of Mount Lofty in Redesdale Victoria our Shiraz is produced from low cropped 15 year old vines using traditional wine making skills. Hand picked fruit is fermented in small batches on toasty french oak and then carefully matured for two and a half years in old french oak barriques.
Full bodied smelling of ripe plum, blackberry, cherry and peppery spice this elegant long tasting wine has generous flavours harmoniously balanced by a unique complexity of sweet vanillin and soft oak tannins.
An ideal accompaniment to most red meats, game and cheeses. Our wine can be enjoyed now but will continue to develop gracefully given careful cellaring.
On the nose is fresh citrus and honeydew melon. On the palate is intense citrus characters with just a hint of floral. Crisp and refreshing with lively balanced acidity.
2019 Dry White
Our Classic Dry White is an early harvest wine with beautiful citrus and tropical aromas. The fresh fruit flavour of a Riesling grape is complemented with Vermentino and Viognier in this light and refreshing blend with a crisp dry finish.
